Michele Rabito Crescimanno is an experienced automotive professional and currently holds the role of Development Leader at Stellantis, a leading company in the motor vehicle industry. In this interview, Michele told us about his career, his experience in Stellantis and the developments he has taken part in within the Life Green Vulcan Project. Furthermore, he gave us an idea of the challenges faced by the Project and the future opportunities it will pave the way for, referring in particular to SRC-based compounds whose development he personally followed within Life Green Vulcan.

Short Bio & role in the Life Green Vulcan project:

I'm an Antivibration specialist, in particular as Development Leader. In the Life Green Vulcan project I work as responsible for architectural concept definition, design and development of engine mounts for both thermal and electric applications.

What are your activities within the project?

I support to CRF activities for preindustrial production of spring pads and characterization, testing for performance assessment according to Stellantis Standards.

What are the main tasks performed and the main results?

CAE methodology for predictive design of spring pads implementing advanced hyperelastic material models based on developed compound parameters and characteristics. First assessment of NR based compound spring-pad on a complete vehicle suspension system along with static and creep assessment at component level. Activities propaedeutic to final compound validation.

What are your expectations of the project?

In the near future, to extend SRC-based compounds to engine mounts, for which the in-service working conditions are very demanding due to long-term fatigue and strength targets, as well as relatively high temperatures.
