The Sustainability Director of Innovando – Cveta Majtanovic, coordinator of the Life Green Vulcan project, was invited by the Futur/io institute to the VIP Davos Executive Reception as part of the World Economic Forum held in Switzerland last week.
The event took place in Steigenberger Grand Hotel Belvédère Davos where globally renowned speakers shared their insights on the topics of Sustainable Innovation, ESG Taxonomy and Regenerative Futures.
The World Economic Forum brings together decision-makers from across society to work on projects and initiatives that make a real difference. Through collaboration between stakeholders with varied perspectives, the aim is to deliver concrete and sustainable results and make a positive impact at all levels of society.
Considering that innovative technologies will play a major role in improving the efficiency of the way that we are running things, while knowing that at the core of the LGV project is a disruptive innovative devulcanization technology, if executed carefully, it could act as a multiplier to address multiple challenges simultaneously: from reducing the critical raw material consumption (Natural Rubber) to contributing to the fight against the climate change. One of the key topics that were underlined during the meeting in Davos was the importance of commercializing emerging clean technologies.
As countries put in place their Net-Zero industry and energy transformation plans, resilient supply chains and open markets will be critical to ensuring access to raw materials and inputs central to decarbonization, as stated by the European Commission president, Ursula Von Der Leyen. The EU also sees trade as a vital component towards reducing dependencies on monopolistic supply chains for critical materials. Having this in mind, competition and trade are the key to speeding up clean tech and climate neutrality.
Together with all the project partners Rubber Conversion, Stellantis, Bridgestone, University of Trento and project coordinator Innovando, we eagerly await the publication of the results of this ambitious project.
